  The Directorate has completed establishment of 25 District Mobile Units in two phases and thus this Directorate opened a new era of scientific aids to investigation. In the first phase 9 District Mobile Units were established which was flagged off by the then Director General of Police Shri P. V. Sumant. Remaining 16 District Mobile Units were flagged off by Dr.A.K.Sinha, Director on June23, 2005. The

flagged off ceremonies were attended by senior Police Officers, Government officials besides officers and staff members of this Directorate.

Apart from the routine activities of undertaking the physical and chemical exanimations of crime related physical evidences, the Directorate regularly imparts training to the police officers of different categories and Judicial officers of different ranks of the North Eastern States, on different disciplines of Forensic Science. Bank officials and other officials from different financial institutions are also provided basic training on detection of counterfeit currency notes and other Government security documents. Scientists of Forensic Science Laboratories of the neighboring States are also provided in service training on the analysis of crime exhibits. These scientists are also trained on the instrumental methods of analysis. The Directorate also provides necessary supports to the University and other organization for promoting scientific research activities. The Laboratory has organized one seminar on "Prospective on Medico legal cases Vis-à-vis Forensic Science" in the office auditorium. Fourteen Doctors including Professor and Head of the Department, Forensic Medicine, Guwahati Medical College, Guwahati and scientists of this Directorates, who are involved in the examination of medico legal case exhibits, attended the said seminar. The Doctors and the scientists presented papers in the seminar. In the said seminar, some recommendations were taken for better management of medico legal cases and these recommendations were sent to the Government and also to the Directorate of Forensic Science, Government of India, New Delhi for their implementation. The seminar opens a door of interaction between Forensic scientists and Doctors of Forensic Medicine to work together for the criminal justice delivery system.

The Directorate also regularly observes annual sports day during the end of each year, which includes both indoor and outdoor games. Almost all the officers and staff members of the Laboratory take part in charity/friendly matches, like in cricket, with other local youth clubs.

Sri Sri Biswakarma Puja is regularly celebrated in the laboratory with great joy. On this event art and game competition is organized among the school children. On the Republic Day, the Campus Co-ordination Committee organized Art Competition, Quiz competition etc. among children, gents and ladies. The Rangali Bihu is also celebrated with colourful cultural programmes.
